Once we arrived in Girardot, we met up with another Friend of Alvaro. He has a pristine vintage 1958 PA18 Piper Cub. He was from the Bogota Air Club as well. Grandson David decided to leave the comfort of Alvaro's plane for the return trip. David is 13 years old and is up for any thing that offers excitement or percieved excitement. This gentlemen is a stunt pilot as well, as this plane is set up for such action.

Pilot and David.

I am not an expert on this technical stuff, but, I am told this planes control panel is not the typical 1958 Piper control panel. This convinved me!
David landing back in Bogota and parking. David did comment that it was cold in the thin air without his sweatshirt.

Airplane

Fernando's Brother, Alvaro Correa invited me for a flight and lunch in Girardot, Colombia. It is approximately a 25 minute flight on his Piper Seneca lll. Alvaro has been flying for years, both in Colombia as well as, USA. Grandson Nico, who is an aspiring future pilot, His brother David and Dad, Fernando came along . It was a fun experience for me, and I thought I would share some photos.

We met a couple other pilot friends at The Bogota Air Club where Alvaro maintains his plane. Heard some interesting conversation about experiences flying around ths beautiful country in small planes.

Dodge Commercial !

I had to add a "commercial" for Dodge! These are 2009 Durango's that Fernando purchased in Miami from an outfit that Exports for foreign markets. These were headed to Saudi, but problems developed between buyer and seller. Fernando was able to purchase 8 units. He has all but the one I drove to Annapoima sold! I have to tell you that this is one great vehicle! It has the 5.7 litre engine which only utilizes 4 of the 8 cylinders at slow city driving or at normal highway speeds. But "tromp on it" and the others kick in and will knock your hat off!!! Mileage is great. Drove to Annapoima and back, through mountain terrain, passing others on up mountain grades with all cylinders engaged, what a performance. Used only about a quarter of a tank.

8 passenger comfort.

These photos are posted just to prove to anyone that there was no hint of starvation!

Eat-Drink.....Smoke?

Fernando's gift to his favorite Father-in-Law. Son Nathan thought it appropriate.

Jose is Fernando's Chef in Annapoima! He was great, but, had his challenge with this hungry group. He survived with my highest recommendation!
